Professional Profile
Bryan has worked in the Treaty of Waitangi and Maori Land Law fields since 1990, originally as a Historian/Academic and more recently as a Lawyer. Currently he co-leads the Morrison Kent Maori Legal Services Team with Campbell Duncan.

Experience
- Researching, writing and presenting expert historical evidence before the Waitangi Tribunal and Maori Land Court since 1990.
- Senior Historian, Office of Treaty Settlements, 1995-96. Participating in negotiation of Treaty claim settlements (e.g. Waikato Raupatu Settlement and Ngati Tahu Settlement) and advising the Minister in Charge of Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations.
- Appearance as expert witness in numerous Treaty claims and Inquiry Districts e.g. Te Whanganui a Orotu, Rekohu/Chatham Islands, Urewera, Turanganui a Kiwa, Te Tau Ihu and Wairarapa ki Tararua.
- Teaching in various Law and History courses at Victoria University relating to Maori Land Law, NZ History, History of Maori-Pakeha Relations, Public Law, Property Law and numerous academic articles and books published in those fields.
- Representing Treaty claims in the Whanganui, Te Paparahi o Te Raki, Te Rohe Potae and Porirua ki Manawatu Inquiry Districts.
- Commissioned expert witness before the Maori Land Court in respect of a range of historico-legal issues relating to Maori land cases.
