Background
Meryl was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2003. Prior to joining the Commercial Law team at Morrison Kent in September 2010, Meryl practiced as a senior solicitor at a specialist boutique firm and following that spent time in the Commercial Law department of a large Auckland law firm.
Point of difference
Prior to practicing law, Meryl was involved in the management and operation of a successful family business. This experience gives Meryl an understanding of the need to know the client’s business, the management culture, the goals, the ideals and the vision to ensure she communicates sound, bespoke advice consistently throughout the relationship with the client. Meryl focuses on forward planning and the implementation of strategies which not only mitigate future risk but also create future opportunities.

Recent Relevant Experience
Meryl has recently acted for an international client to establish their Australian arm of the business in New Zealand. This included asset restructuring of the group together with advice on terms and conditions of supply and the use of trade marks in New Zealand.
Meryl also provides ongoing advice to a client with a strong Australasian presence on Consumer Law matters including terms and conditions of supply and sales promotion advertising.
She has also recently advised a global media business with corporate restructure matters including acting on the removal of the New Zealand subsidiary company from the Companies Register.
